Rituals for earthly survival:
Rituals II (POSE): 25–26 October 2025
The Round Tower, Portsmouth
Over two days, the Round Tower becomes a place of making, movement, and renewal. Step inside Rituals II (POSE) and take part in a living artwork that unfolds through craft, dance, conversation, and ritual. Drop in, no booking required.
Saturday 25 October:
‘Making Kin’
Round Tower
11-5pm Drop in, Mask making workshop: Begin with paint and play in a Family Mask Workshop, led by Rachel Jones, creating the faces that will later come alive in the ritual.
6–8pm Drop in, Living Artwork: As dusk falls, join ‘The Opening Ritual’, a gathering of the Children of the Compost, where light, sound, and movement weave a space for reflection, care, and encounter.
Sunday 26 October:
‘Compost Time’
Round Tower
11am–1pm Drop in, Workshop: The morning invites you to join in and move within the installation for ‘Rituals in Motion’ with Kate Jones – a gentle exploration of bodies, sound, and space. All ages, experiences or fitness welcome.
1:30–3:30pm Drop In, Interactive Installation: In the afternoon, experience ‘Biotronics’ where digital and natural worlds intertwine
Square Tower
1:30–2:30pm Talk and Q&A: Join ‘Moving Rituals’ in the Square Tower, a conversation with Kate Jones and Roy Hanney on the making of Rituals for Earthly Survival.
Round Tower
4–6pm Drop in, Living Artwork: As the light fades, gather once more for ‘The Closing Ritual’, a quiet unbinding, a composting, an ending that makes room for beginnings.
There is limited space within the venue so during the performances we will be letting people in on a one-out-one-in basis.
