I have been an artist for 4 years and love all things whimsy, horror and nerd-culture. Having fallen in love with art from a young age, I routinely find myself getting lost in worlds I create. At the moment my main inspirations are my dog, Bob, a 1 year old Jack Russel that moonlights as a ball of energy, videogames like Pokémon and Mario, and the fey folk. Pieces you can expect to find at a SpookieBlu are split between mixed media traditional, usually gouache or acrylic on canvas, and prints of digital media created through procreate. This will be my first time at POSE Portsmouth, and I am honoured to be amongst such amazing creatives and to showcase my art to the public. Whether you’re searching for you next art piece, or just wat to window shop, you’ll be greeted with a big smile and a warm welcome!

Community dance artist Caroline Broadbent believes anyone can dance and that everyone should have the opportunity to dance.
With over 25 years experience Caroline has delivered creative dance sessions for many groups in Portsmouth and nationally.
Her dance style is playful, contemporary and open to anyone.

Dance Jam Southsea is a creative dance group for adults.
Dance experience is not important, just an open mind and a playful attitude to movement.
Dance Jam creates site specific dance pieces and films them in locations/ venues in Portsmouth.
Our current dance piece is inspired by supermarket nostalgia, consumerism and food gorging.
In this workshop we will explore these themes and you can have the option of being in dance as we will film some of the dance at the Wedgewood Rooms.

Showing of the short dance films and a short dance workshop sharing by dance jam members

Free dance jam workshop for public to book on, there are only 30 spaces available please book in advance.

Filming some of dance jam’s latest piece ‘Food Land’
(If you enjoyed the workshop you can take part in the filming and be in the next dance jam dance film if you wish)

Description:
I make contemporary paper artworks, working primarily with paper embellished with embroidery to create imaginary, abstract landscapes, sculptural wall pieces and handmade paper vessels. Using hand-coloured papers and thin thread, dense lines of stitch are overlaid like paint to build up depths of colour.I am inspired by the sky, particularly at dawn and dusk and try to capture the atmosphere of fleeting moments in time and reflect the constantly changing light.

Description:
I did a creative arts degree when I was nearly 30. Before this I was a bit lost and very chaotic. The degree gave me insight into what could be and I have been exploring my creativity ever since through performance, creative writing and since COVID, visual and video art/creative filmmaking and dance. I got diagnosed with ADHD in 2021, just before turning 53. These recent art forms have been massively helpful in gaining insight into better ways of managing and understanding how how my brain works. So now I am ready to come out from the shadows and share what I do as a multidisciplinary artist and collaborator.
